We need all three of these components. I've read enough writing resources by now that I don't know if I encountered anything new here, but the presentation made clear sense and I've highlighted many spots to refer back to. I expect this is a book I'll re-read and continue to learn from. Every new writer tend to have the habit of freewriting their ideas.

Out of them I learned to evaluate what I have written, to analyse in retrospect, as it were.
My plotting is not as tight as Weiland would have it; but then, my novels do not depend upon km weiland structuring your novel so much as upon the journey of the protagonist through the story.
Stories must have a shape, a logic, a cause-and-effect; and Weiland shows how to put it together. Very helpful! Only gripe is that some of her examples didn't really fit that well into the structure she describes. If you're feeling very cheap most of the same information can be found on editor ellen brock's youtube channel in the Story Structure, and Scene Structure playlists. I would recommend purchasing this book as well as checking out the videos, as it is useful to get the perspective of both an author and an editor.
I'm a year-old aspiring writer working on my first fiction novel and am finding this book, along with it's mating workbook "Structuring Your Novel Workbook: Hands-On Help for Building Strong and Successful Stories," indispensably useful. Other outlining books may provide equal instruction but I'm doubtful they do so in as warm and encouraging a manner as K, km weiland structuring your novel.

As I grope my way through this mammoth endeavour, it feels as though I have a personal writing coach when I use these books. There are 4 publications in the series 2 books and 2 workbooks and I highly recommend all of them. They're very reasonably priced and money well spent. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a story they want to write. The book contains all the information you need in order to get your ideas on paper in a literate, cohesive fashion.
Even if you think you know what will be acceptable to a publisher, km weiland structuring your novel, this book includes many valuable time-saving tips and suggestions, including quite a few that I have never read anywhere else.
